Please check ProgressBook to make sure you have a grade for every test and the nutrition journal. There are a few of you that did not complete a test, need to make corrections on your nutrition journals, or did not turn in a nutrition journal.
Use this week to get all make up work completed by Friday, May 15th. I will be sending the names of students who did not complete all assessments to the administration on May 16th.

1. Calculating Nutrients Available in Fast Foods Worksheet Activity. Please read through the directions and complete the activity. It is one activity, but I had to scan each page individually. You will need a calculator for this activity. This activity will help you complete your nutritional journal.

Monday, April 20th
We will be meeting in Teams at 11:00 a.m. Please have the lab, a balloon, ruler, and a calculator ready if you would like to know your tidal volume and vital capcity of your lungs. If you do not have a balloon, you can follow along as I do the lab as a demo. Before Monday, you will need to know your height in centimeters and your mass in kilograms. Use a meter stick to find your height and the bathroom scale to find your mass. 1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds.
Measuring Lung Capacity Conclusion Questions The questions are due by 4/22 at 11:30 p.m.

Continue working on your nutrition journal. We will begin a discussion of the digestive system next week and completing activities which will help you with your nutrition journal. If you have not been keeping track of the food you eat, please remember to do that for 3 days. The due date for the nutrition journal will be May 1st, but please do not email the journals yet.

Read pages 404-410 Jot down main ideas as you are reading. I have attached the guided notes we will be discussing tomorrow. You can print the notes out or just make your own outline.
Wednesday April 15th
On Wednesdays through the month of April, we will be meeting at 11:00 a.m. using Teams. This will be our classtime in which I will be giving notes and instructions and answering any questions you may have.

Video Chat at 11:00 a.m. You should have received an invite in your school email. If you did not receive an invite, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add you. You will open your Office Calendar app and click on the meeting to open up details and join. This method is new to all of us, but it will become easier the more we use it. This will be for any student that has any questions.
Complete Exercise 20 Anatomy of the Heart Review Sheet pages 255-257
Atherosclerosis - the disease caused by the hardening and narrowing of the arteries. The condition progresses slowly and silently. It begins with high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol which causes plaque formation to begin in the arteries.
Myocardial Infarction - the scientific name for a heart attack. When a person has a heart attack, the muscle damage is irreversible. Signs and Symptoms of a heart attack- fatique, chest discomfort, intense chest pain for 30-60 minutes.
Arteriosclerosis - the hardening of the arteries
Angina - chest pain
Angioplasty - a catheter is placed in the artery. A balloon is inserted into the open artery. A stent coated with medicine that is released into the artery which prevents scar tissue from forming a blockage in the artery.

Wednesday - Practice Quiz This is just to let me know who is having trouble with Office 365 and what answers will look like once you complete a quiz. Thank you for your patience with me. In the last week, I have learned how to set up a web-page, use Office 365 Forms, Zoom, and Teams. It will be a little rocky at first, but we will get the hang of it.
