All 3 assignments are due Monday, May 4th

We will be starting a novel study on "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton. This study will continue through the end of the school year.

If you prefer to read silently, click the link below for an electronic copy of the book. Alternatively, you may choose to follow along with me as I read each chapter in the recorded video sessions with each assignment.

    Link to the whole novel:

*Below is a Link to the whole novel in Spanish. If needed, I'd recommend side-by-side reading. Read the chapter in your strongest language, but have the other version open in another browser for reference.

    Assignment 1:

Read or listen to Chapter 1 and leave a response in the survey.

*Note: I recorded this video differently than the others and could not get the text to show up, so there is no text in the video, just a read aloud. If you would like the text to follow along with, you could print pages 3 - 17 before playing the video, or minimize your browser to a half screen, then open a second browser at half screen. Open the text version of the novel in one browser and play the video in the other.

This way, you can follow along in the text on one screen while the video plays. (Sorry for the complicated instructions this time; I'm learning! All other chapters will have the text to follow along with IN the video!)

    Chapter 1 Part 1(24 Min.)

     Chapter 1 Part 2 (10 min.)

Respond to the first chapter in the short survey below. Focus on the characters.

    Assignment 2:

Read or listen to chapter 2 and fill in the character log below.

*I got the text to appear in these videos so you can follow along in the video without opening a second browser!

Copy and paste the character log into an Office365 document and complete the chart. Then share it with me with the title:

    Class period - character Log.

NOTE: (If it will not copy correctly, just type the character names and the missing details from the chart next to each name, so it's more like a list instead of a chart.)

    Assignment 3:

Read or listen to Chapter 3 and take the quiz below.
