    *In the last two sections (15-2/15-3), you read how differences between the North and South threatened to tear the nation apart and how increasing tensions over the issue of slavery lead to violence and the formation of the Republican Party.  Section 15-4 "Lincoln's Election and Southern Secession" looks at how the 1860 election led to the secession of the Southern states from the Union.
