COMPANIES OFFERING FREE RESIDENTIAL ACCESS SERVICE TO INTERNET FOR STUDENTS DURING THIS TIME OF SCHOOL CLOSURE

We have been researching internet options for our students and have found the following information which we are sharing with you to assist in helping your children gain access to the internet from your home if you do not currently have such access.

  • Charter will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395 or visit https://corporate.charter.com/newsroom/charter-to-offer-free-access-to-spectrum-broadband-and-wifi-for-60-days-for-new-K12-and-college-student-households-and-more
  • Comcast is also offering options for students, but when we checked eligibility using, a few addresses in our district, we received the message their service is not available in this area. They do have a map of hotspots in the area, but those would require students to travel to another place –it looked like some were businesses and some were private homes. So, Comcast may not be as readily available in our area.
  • Parents may want to contact their cell phone carriers and inquire about hot spot options available to them.
